Tony-award winning musical, Avenue Q, returned to the Shaftesbury Theatre in Spring 2026, to celebrate its 20th anniversary. This major revival of the ground-breaking musical reunited members of the original Broadway creative team alongside additional creatives including PixelLux's Creative Director, Nina Dunn.
Nina shares a behind-the-scenes look into the production:
" I first encountered Avenue Q on Broadway in 2008 and later via the V&A Museum's National Video Archive of Performance whilst working on an exhibit there. Joining the team to bring it back to the West End alongside original and new creative members is a true privilege.
Collaborating with Anna Louizos on her inventive set has been wonderful, especially finding new ways to integrate original animation and hidden video surfaces. My team at PixeLlux, working alongside designers Tim Lutkin and Paul Groothuis, has worked to re-format and expand the interstitial material and add more humour and richness to the show with new material."
The cast of Avenue Q performed 'For Now' live on the 2026 Semi-Final of Britain's Got Talent, in front of a digital recreation of Anna Louizos' set design for the West End show.
Using photographic images of the set, alongside digital elements including a bold 'fuzzy' curtain, Nina created a vibrant stage design suitable for both the live audience and viewers at home. Alongside the iconic Avenue Q street buildings, the scene included elements from the West End production such as the bus stop, and live lighting changes that set us right on an expanded and immersive version of the Avenue.
