The team at PixelLux was approached by Will Tuckett, director and choreographer, to create the video design and curate a wider creative team for a high-end jewellery client’s Christmas event.
The event took place in the magnificent Paul Hamlyn Hall, a beautiful glass atrium at the Royal Opera House and it ran for one night. It presented the clients with a unique experience that included ballet, opera and a fashion show, accompanied by a live orchestra,, set on a mini theater placed into the grand atrium space.
The studio used AI as as tool to brainstorm and pitch the looks based on a narrative created by the director and worked with Justin Nardella (scenic designer), Peter Small (lighting designer) and Sebastian Frost (sound designer) to bring the event to life.
A combination of creatively expanded AI, 3D Animation, Notch and After Effects was used to create the fully mapped proscenium design and LED black cloth and bring the flat surfaces to life, taking the audience on a journey across musical eras from the baroque, through the romantic, modernist all the way to contemporary design.
The Trompe l’oiel effect created by the projection was incredibly effective and when it moved into projected 3D architecture you would never have known that the surfaces were simply plain flat canvases for the video.
One of the key challenges was the short load in and build time combined with the fact the venue was subject to daylight. The team worked round the clock using the hours of darkness efficiently to get a show up and running within 24 hours of having loaded in.
The client was extremely pleased with the results and felt it was one of the best Christmas events they had ever put on for their clients.
The team at PixelLux was also happy with the event and the way the team worked together combining everyone’s talent, commitment and focus.
